Fireflies are Cool

This was going to be another one of my self-pitying rants about how my life sucks and I don't have any money or purpose and I'm just spinning my wheels and what the hell am I going to do with my life, but I just looked outside my window and saw that the fireflies are out in full force tonight.

Fireflies are so cool. I used to catch them in jars when I was a kid, just to watch them light up. Most of the time, I even let them go.

Bats are cool, too, but stinky in large numbers.

This has also been a banner year for dragonflies around here. Dragonflies are super cool, maybe even cooler than fireflies by virtue of the fact that they've been around for eons.

They are everywhere this summer, just being cool and keeping the mosquito population down.
